Excellen is very outspoken and speaks her mind often. She is honest and requires that everyone must pay attention to her. My son’s birthday was coming the next week and my wife and I were looking for a great gift. Since my son was going to be seven years old, we did think a bit what to offer him. Last year, we did offer him some great puzzles. My son is a real genius and he simply loves puzzles. We bought him four full kits. They were with very nice patterns.

We did have a great time in family doing those puzzles. They are still hanging out in my sons room. So for this year we were a bit puzzled what to offer him. Maybe simply enjoying a nice day at a local resort ? It would be incredible, we thought. Though it would only be one day.

We then went to a local toys store. There were plenty of things to look around. From electronic toys to interesting books. We see a very nice bike: the Razor Pocket Rocket Miniature Electric Bike. Nice stuff for kids. We finished our tour looking for more puzzles. Maybe too much of them ? So we thought then. Will our son enjoy another year doing more puzzles ?

Back home, we then searched for some online toys stores. There were lots of choices on various web sites. Prices were good. Besides the delivery time was less than a week. We started thinking about others options. We went to a local park and saw lots of kids playing around. It seems skates were popular those days though we found them to be a bit dangerous.

Back home, we were looking at some pictures of our son. How tall was he. He was growing up fast and for sure we will offer him a great birthday. We looked back at the friends list. Over 20 others kids were invited. We had to make sure to have enough cakes, beverages and fun stuff to do. Later this evening, we chose the gift for our kid. The metal ones are the collectible ones of choice, it seems, although early plastics have definitely become collectible, so who knows?

The models are still being enthusiastically made, and the age of the model does not seem to automatically raise the price. As in the original, actual car, the appeal is in the eye of the beholder. A model car may be a remembrance, of the VW bug that was your first car, of the memories that are aroused by the sight of a 1969 Mustang convertible, or of sitting on the floor watching the General Lee fulfill all your six-year old ideas of what a car could do.

It may also be as close as you will ever get to owning a Ferrari, say, or a Lamborghini. If you really always wanted one, somebody is sure to give you a model for Christmas sooner or later. If you really rate, it may be a premium model with doors that open, a steering wheel that turns not only itself but the wheels as well, and a working suspension. If your friends really get carried away, they may get you one with a working internal combustion engine, although they are venturing close to the toy line here.

As in all collecting, it is wise to focus. You may want to start with police cars, with all the versions of the Batmobile, with cars from famous movies, or from the era of history that interests you most. The choice of models in all these categories and more is very large, and there are many manufacturers who used to and/or are still making these small vehicles.

It can turn into a hobby, too; you may want to put your cars into display cases and hang them on the wall, but you may want to restore them, airbrushing on bright, glossy colors, or set them in dioramas with little, die cast gangsters or carhops or service men just the right scale to match.

Anyway, model cars are valuable collectors items – valuable in terms of the fun of it all if not in the investment possibilities.
